What Happened on D-Day?

The code-named D-Day a.k.a Operation Overlord was the invasion of Normandy, France during World War II when about 156,000+ Americans, British and Canadian forces landed on five beaches along a 50-mile stretch of the coast of Normandy in Nazi-occupied France. The goal was to liberate Europe from the Nazis. The landings were initially scheduled to take place on June 5th, 1944, but as a result of bad weather, they were delayed until the morning of June 6th.
