What is Silver Star Service Banner Day & Its Significance?

Remembering our Veterans

Silver Star Service Banner Day is a day to honor and recognize the service of our nation’s veterans, especially those who have been wounded in battle. It is a day to remember the sacrifices they have made in order to protect our freedoms. The Silver Star Service Banner was created by Congress in 1945 as a way to honor and recognize those who have been wounded or killed while serving in the armed forces. The banner is made up of a blue star on a white field, with each star representing one member of the Armed Forces who has been wounded or killed during active duty. On this special day, we take time to remember and honor these brave men and women for their courage and dedication to protecting our country.
