WOMEN VETERAN DAY

WOMEN VETERAN DAY

Women Veterans Day is a day to honor and recognize the service and sacrifice of women who have served in the United States Armed Forces. It is observed on June 12, which is the anniversary of the signing of the Women’s Armed Services Integration Act of 1948. This act allowed women to serve as regular members of the military in all branches and all capacities.

Today, there are over 2 million women veterans in the United States. They have served in every major conflict since World War II, and they continue to serve in the military today. Women veterans have made significant contributions to the United States Armed Forces, and they deserve our gratitude and respect.

On Women Veterans Day, we can show our appreciation for women veterans by:

  • Thanking them for their service
  • Learning about their experiences
  • Supporting organizations that help women veterans
  • Advocating for policies that support women veterans

Women veterans have made a tremendous difference in the United States Armed Forces and in our country. They deserve our recognition and our gratitude.

Here are some ways to celebrate Women Veterans Day:

  • Attend a Women Veterans Day event in your community.
  • Write a letter to a woman veteran thanking her for her service.
  • Donate to a charity that supports women veterans.
  • Wear a purple poppy, the official flower of Women Veterans Day.
  • Use the hashtag #WomenVeteransDay on social media to share your support.

Every day is a day to honor women veterans, but Women Veterans Day is a special day to come together and show our appreciation for their service.
